Episode 12: The Future
Narrator: with just one more week left of the season the team starts looking towards the future, both the week ahead and more importantly seasons yet to come. In the last week the success has dried up, preparation races have gone badly and both Iancu Raducioiu and Arpad Faltus have suffered injuries recently and Gyenge Rubik who’s so far had a quiet season has failed to take the chances he’s been given.
Henri (manager): It’s not been the best season for Gyenge, he’s started to get pushed out by younger riders and this has meant he’s not been given many chances but he has a history of underperforming and it looks like it’s happened again but part of the reason he’s missed out this year is that he’s been building to next year’s goals and so there’s a lot to be excited for.
Bertus de Keijsere (coach): The final week of the season should hopefully give us some more success. Marc Marc will be getting a few chances to lead the team and he’s a rider who’s performed well for us in the past and Brock Moeller, our young gun will be experienced the Don Cup with an eye towards winning in the future.
Henri (manager): Next season is going to be really interesting. We’ve already arrange three outgoing transfers with a young English sprinter that we’ve been nurturing leaving as well as Shepard and Rojas and with Zhai in training we’ve got another high potential youngster to be embedded into the team.
Placido Maciel (performance director): We’ve got a few goals for next season. From a purely organisation point of view we shall aim to manage a team that isn’t purely a CL/DH team since Brock gives us a genuine hill rider. Historically the season’s big early goal has been the Volta with Rudi Base. This season we left the TF recharge a bit too late so I think Gyenge Rubik may captain there this time with the target being a solid top 9 with some good performances in the mountain stages. We’d hoped to maybe line Gyenge up at the start of Ainet Bruggen but since he was drafted into the Don Cup team that now looks very unlikely. After that we’re not entirely sure what the season plan will be but we’re likely to return to the Don Cup with Brock making a full throttle attempt. Needless to say we’ll be back at the Valpa but what we go for there is going to depend on how the season goes and how Zhai’s training goes.
